Uptown is a popular residential and commercial business district 5 miles west of downtown Houston. Its boundaries stretch from Woodway Drive to the north, I-59 to the south, I-610 to the east, and Yorktown Street to the west. Thanks in large part to the Houston Galleria (the largest shopping mall in Texas) as well as over 2000 other local boutiques, restaurants, and businesses, Uptown has become the 4th largest retail district in the U.S. Uptown is also home to around fifty thousand residents who live in the many apartments, condos, and houses in the area.
